NSW: Extra police take to Sydney trains
SYDNEY, Aug 13 AAP - Police are checking Sydney's trains and stations after receivinga report that four men may be planning to plant a package on a train.
Assistant Commissioner Dick Adams said police were on patrol at stations and on trainsfollowing the information received this afternoon.
"Earlier today we received some information that four male persons of Micronesian descentmay well be travelling on the rail system this afternoon and may attempt to place somesort of a package on the train," Mr Adams said.
"I'd like to reassure people that the information that we have in normal circumstanceswould not cause us concern, but in these times of heightened alert we alerted all theauthorities.
"We carried out a number of risk assessments and it is our considered opinion thatthere is no cause for concern."
He said trains were operating as usual.
