FED: Fraser special envoy status welcomed by CARE = 2

In Brisbane, federal Opposition leader Kim Beazley welcomed Mr Fraser's appointment.

"I thought that (Mr Fraser's appointment) sounded to me like an important development," Mr
Beazley said.

"And I wish him God speed in all his efforts as far as that (obtaining the release of the
Australian hostages) is concerned.

"We just support all efforts that are there to secure their release and the dropping of the
totally unjustified charges."
